What makes ID Speed Shop Tuning Different?

We are often asked about Innovative Diesel and how it all began.

How we got started in the industry and why the name change?

I'll start with the Powerstroke, since that's where we were most known. Back in 2003, when the 6.0 was released, I worked personally with the owners of SCT and Superchips to develop and test the first Ford "CAN" tuning device. The 6.0L Powerstroke was the first vehicle from Ford with the CAN network. We built and tested programs, with a lot of equipment that was solely used by manufacturers. We tested for cylinder pressure, opacity, and every temperature and pressure imaginable. We dialed in the programs so they were perfect. The pre-loaded calibrations many run today, were tested and built by us.

Around 2010, I worked with SCT to setup the first diesel tuning training network and instructed the diesel classes. These classes were dedicated to other calibrators(tuners). This included 7.3L, 6.0L, 6.4L, and 6.7L Powerstroke. While continuing tuning Diesel vehicles and instructing classes, we worked our way back into gas calibrations. Ford released the Ecoboost in 2010 and the idea of a factory twin turbocharged direct injection vehicle intrigued me. I started testing and building tunes for the Taurus SHO. It became a hit and in 2011 Ford released the F150. So, I formed a gas calibrations a parts company. We kept it separate from the Diesel. ID Motorsports was born as we expanded into more Gas tuning. We do a lot of gas tuning, along with the diesel's.

Running multiple website and multiple locations became difficult. So we merged into ID Speed Shop. With a lot of hard work from my website and marketing friend, we combined the websites and automated a lot of processes. Inventory, shipping, tracking, and automated forms saved us a lot of time!

There's a lot of confusion in the industry today, so understanding who you are trusting with calibrating your vehicle is important. Some "tuners" and shops have very little experience actually calibrating vehicles. They purchased or read their calibrations and edit them with very little knowledge and understanding of what's being changed. This is evident when comparing drivability, reliability, safety, and efficiency between tunes. It's not only about adding power. We have always built and tested our calibrations from the ground up.
