This high viscosity product (140) at hot temperature provides a higher oil film resistance in extreme operation conditions : heavy loads, shocks, high temperatures. Therefore MOTUL HD 85W-140 is specially recommended when the xxW-90 lubricant requested by the gearbox manufacturer is not strong enough to handle very heavy loads, shocks or/and high temperatures
